That is a pleasant surprise. In the USA the minimum wage is $7.25 , Texas is $7.25, Florida has a minimum hourly wage of $8.10 , it went up five cents on Jan 1st. California has a $10.80 minimum wage per hour.
Considering the USA is a very well off nation, they ought to be ashamed of themselves.A good dose of Labour Party politics of 1945 would shake them up.

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/ontar ... euthanasia

So doctors are being forced to refer patients to a doctor who will euthanize them regardless of their own conscience rights. That means good catholic doctors can't practice, and no Catholics can become doctors.

Trudeau is responsible for this one. How he can call himself catholic I don't know.

In Canada the Canadian National Railway can pull in excess of 137 rail cars using three locomotives. Those figures can and are exceeded . The locos can pull a lot more .Now at the moment Canadian grain farmers in the Prairie Provinces cannot get enough rail cars to ship their product to the coast. The CN and CP are not giving them enough cars to ship grain. Shipment is urgent as farmers need money to buy seed for next year's crop, and the banks are also becoming worried about the slowness of shipments of grain.
Some suggested using trucks of grain and going by road. What those people don't realize is that three trucks full of grain can fit into one rail car. You can see how prohibitive that method of transport is.
I heard the head of a farmers Union in Manitoba discussing this problem on TV yesterday.

The leadership convention for the Ontario Conservative Party resulted in Doug Ford (of Etobicoke) being elected leader. The delegates were sent home before the announcement was made at 10 pm. The reason for the delay was a leadership challenge by Christine Elliot, of Oshawa, who refused to accept the results. She still will not accept the results even after a recount. There are only 150 votes between the two of them.
I prefer Doug Ford to her any day.

The anti Sex Ed curriculum , and Pro Life candidate came close to winning and threw her delegates support to Doug Ford when she realized victory for her was impossible.
Finally, as was shown in the Federal Conservative leadership convention last year Pro Life candidates defy the press predictions , and have a lot of say in who becomes the new leader.

Alex Vavilov, the son of Russian sleeper agents was born in Canada, (I believe it was Toronto) .He is now 23 years old and wants to live in Canada and get a job in the finance district. He has a Canadian passport ,but the Canadian government doesn't want him here. They think he should be Russia's responsibility. He lived here and in the states most of his young life and claims Canadian citizenship. He said to CBC news why should he be punished for what his parents have done.He spoke no Russian in 2010 when the FBI arrested his parents in Boston.
Our Supreme Court is hearing Alex's case. (As to whether or not his Canadian passport wnas issued in error or not.) I for one think he should be allowed to live in Canada.

So do I!
Of course I don't know him or much about him but as a general principle I would consider him to be Canadian and should stay.

Now we have the battle between the BC (minority government ) and the rest of Canada, although you wouldn't think so if you listened to the Green party minority.
It is about Kinder Morgan, a pipeline scheduled to be built from oil rich Alberta to the west coast. The investors have said if we don't get clearance and full backing for this pipeline by May 31st we will not continue building it.Once started again. It will cost Kinder Morgan $300 million a month to finance.Naturally, they don't wish to go ahead unless completion is guaranteed.
In fact the courts have already given permission for the federal government to declare this pipeline to be in the national interest and over rule whatever the BC government says.
The problem is zealots who you can't reason with are protesting at the job site, financed by foreign money (Saudi Arabia money and that of rich fanatics) .An opinion poll shows that most people of BC think the pipeline should be built, and it is obvious that oil rich Alberta supports it.
Trudeau, wishy washy as usual has to decide what to do next.Trump would bring out the National Guard , but Trudeau will delay.
He has cancelled his trip to Peru, because the pressure is too great to ignore.
Are we a country of laws or are we a country at all.Are we just Provinces who fight each other for ever and come to no agreement
Build the bloody thing and bring the army out to stop unlawful behaviour by protestors.

Bizarre legal case in Ontario about an unfortunately-named road. There's also a town in Canada called 'Swastika', apparently.

Yes, and Swastika Trail, Puslinch is not the only Swastika in Ontario. There is a small gold mining town in northern Ontario of the same name, near Kirkland Lake.
The fourth largest town in southern Ontario, called Kitchener was called Berlin , back in 1916.
