I have come to believe in involuntary euthanasia (murder, plain and simple) for raccoons. You too would have the same view, if you had been trying to grow a lawn in the back garden for over a year as we have
Let nothing disturb you.
Let nothing make you afraid.
All things are passing.
God alone never changes.
Patience gains all things.
If you have God you will want for nothing.
God alone suffices.

Euthanasia is mercy-killing: ending someone's life in order to end their suffering. It is from the Greek for "good death", and was originally coined by its proponents, so it's a little ironic that Pondy seems to regard it as a dirty word:
Some people don't like using the word euthanasia, as it conjures up unpleasant images to the mind. Assisted suicide sounds so much nicer.
