Yes - it was the pits in both cases.

Very Guardianista.
We all know times have changed - but haven't they changed for the better? Was it appropriate for Bill Wyman to live with a thirteen year old girl, Mandy Smith (even with her mother's permission), the fact that he later (I think ) married her, doesn't alter the fact that she was an abused child. Past puberty, but still a kid.
Elvis brought Priscilla to live with him in America when she was fourteen.
I accept that "hillbillies" married at 14 and culture was different in those circumstances.
In our life times, age of consent has been 16. A 15 and 16 year old getting it together would not be something the police would make a thing out of but a 20 year old man and 14 year old girl is something different.
Difficult for you two as you cannot imagine being a young girl.

Elvis brought Priscilla to live with him in America when she was fourteen.
I don't think this is right. A quick check of Wikipedia suggests that they met when she was fourteen (in Germany, where he was living in an army base, and she was living with her parents) but that she did not fly to America to be with him (on a short visit) until "the summer of 1962" when she would have been seventeen. The following year she moved in to live with him (according to the Wikipedia article).

You could well be right about Elvis and Priscilla, dg. I know she was still at school (attending a local convent), when she moved to America to be with Elvis and was supposed to be staying with relatives of his but he said, "No", to that and moved her in with him as soon as she landed. She could well have been over 16 by then though.
