There is a letter in today's National Post criticizing those who think that votes for the Republicans shouldn't count as much as votes for Democrats.
The reason being that Democrats are university educated while most Trump supporters are country rubes
Well I agree with the letter writer.
Assuming the above is true .What qualifies a Psychology graduate to run a country over and above a truck driver, carpenter or electrician. Can't think of anything myself.
I have wished for and never got - a Prime Minister who was a Christian labourer., a construction worker. I believe such a man or woman could do a better job of governing us . After all we now have Trudeau! And the sooner he loses his seat the better for Canada. Oh well roll on next year's General Election.
Let nothing disturb you.

Patience gains all things.
If you have God you will want for nothing.
God alone suffices.

Well, The big GM plant in Ontario , which is in Oshawa will close by the end of 2019. This is a terrific loss to our auto industry. Already next month the production of the Sierra auto will be done in Fort Worth, Texas. ( where my grandson works ) .
Trump wants all foreign manufacturing to be brought back to the USA. And GM is doing so it seems. They haven't even discussed it with the union yet, that will come later today. The mayor of Oshawa said he heard about the move from the media.
This is disgusting treatment by GM and probably Trump of Canadian auto workers. We never considered ourselves foreigners to the U.S.
That Oshawa plant of GM is the backbone of our auto industry. Now it is gone. Its bad enough that Trump buys our Alberta oil at a great discount because we have no one else to sell it to. That is because we need pipelines to both the Pacific and the Atlantic and can't get them.I blame Trudeau and Trump and those foreign groups who protest our oil industry for stirring up our indiginous tribes to cut their own throats. Canada is on a downward slope economically at present.

I think we will in the end, the oil is in the ground . As for GM, well, their reasons are they need to re-tool for electric cars and self driving cars and they remind us that we still have the Ingersoll auto plant, and that their production in Ontario is similar to that of Ford. GM says they have hired 500 people for some research and development centre in Ontario recently.
Anyway, it is a devastating blow to those middle year and younger year employees who will (some say) lose their pension. One older worker said on TV he was OK because of the pension, a younger man just finished a post graduate degree and says he will get another job. These are highly skilled , well paid workers who are losing out.
Trump has said he wants production back in the states and he is not just talking about Mexico either.

Right now Lyn the union president says (not exact words) that you can't blame Trump because GM has closed four plants in the United States too. The union will do whatever they can do to get them to reverse their decision.
It should be noted that Mexican workers get $2 an hour because General Motors cares only about themselves. Says the union President.
The union called "Unifor" is fighting mad !
