North Korea: Clear and Present Danger

Postby GregB » July 30th, 2017, 12:56 pm

The Stalinist regime of Kim Jong Un in North Korea has launched a test ICBM (Inter Continental Ballistic Missile) which even formerly sceptical American observers of previous tests now regard as having the threatening potential to reach as far as New York, although it's doubted whether the regime has the capacity to produce a nuclear warhead small enough to fit on the tip of such a missile, at least within the next few years, though nothing is certain in this area. The options to challenge and, perhaps bring down, the regime of the first communist dynasty are limited. Sanctions aren't working, China isn't cooperating as it should and regime change is unlikely. The military option is "on the table" and an all-out American attack would certainly eliminate the regime, but that would mean the deaths of hundreds of thousands of South Koreans as the Kim regime has huge numbers of missiles and other long range weapons (and a million troops) pointed at the south which they could unleash in the event of war. This is the quandary which Western military strategists face and which seems insurmountable in present circumstances. Prospects are decidedly grim.

We should bear in mind that the Korean War never finished and there was no peace treaty, only an armistice which holds to the present day. In other words, North Korea is still technically at war with its southern neighbour and the United States and hostilities could be reactivated at any time. Many historians are increasingly saying that it was a grave mistake to agree to an armistice in July 1953 rather than carry the war from the 38th parallel on to the Yalu River (the frontier with communist China) to totally obliterate Kim Il Sung's totalitarian regime and perhaps even take on the Chinese communist/left-fascist regime under the auspices of one of the most evil, murderous tyrants in history, Mao Tse Tung, responsible for perhaps one hundred million deaths among his own people alone.

I read that the North Korean missiles can already reach Los Angeles, and Chicago, but not New York. That is a threat enough from this fanatic Kim Jong Un. The bases of nuclear missiles in North Korea must be destroyed. I don't know how this can be done, but it must be done and done simultaneously, and that depends on spy information of where they are located.
If Japan is hit, either deliberately or accidentally, then I think they would declare war no matter what the United States does.

New York is within the 10,000 km. range attributed to the latest North Korean missile by American experts.

The regime is using mobile launchers as well as those under cover of darkness, making it it extremely difficult to target them.

A Canadian TV news station is talking about the Winter Olympics in Pyongyang which are going ahead.
Now how is that possible when Kim Jon Un is firing rockets over Japan and threatening the USA.?
This does not make sense to me!

EDIT.
Pyeonchang is not Pyongyang, Thank God . Pyeonchang where the Winter Olympics are to be held is in South Korea, not North Korea!.Sorry about that error.
