Do You Wanna Dance?

Postby GregB » October 3rd, 2018, 2:48 pm

I've just seen on the TV news here the mind-boggling images of Theresa May coming onto the stage at the Tory party conference to the music of ABBA's 'Dancing Queen' in movements reminiscent of an epileptic fit. Given the disaster of Brexit I couldn't help but wonder if her next dance might resemble the dance of death in Ingmar Bergman's classic film, 'The Seventh Seal', leading everyone over the cliff:

She wasn't dancing, she did a couple of small movements and waved her arms. Wasn't that bad but she was preaching to the converted.

As far as I'm concerned, she was doing a kind of dance, however minimal, and a lot of modern 'dancing' is just small movements and waving arms, not surprising on a crowded discotheque dance floor. And why was the music being played 'Dancing Queen' anyway if her movements had nothing to do with dancing?

Wasn't that bad? I thought it was grossly embarrassing, someone of her age and staid character trying to be raunchy and 'with it', even if only for a few seconds. As for the 'converted', plenty of those will be sticking the knives in when the moment - not far off - comes.

Much hilarity about that on Facebook, with many people suggesting more appropriate songs, such as "They're coming to take me away" and the theme from "Brexit at Tiffanys".

I liked the Brexit at Tiffany's comment.

Theresa May did try to dance in S Africa, sort of physio for her hips: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/vi ... hool-video

From her painfully awkward movements in your video link, it's clear dancing isn't her forte.
