Why you ramble, no one knows
Wild and wind-blown, that's how you've grown

Welcome back Rose, hope you had a good holiday. You've certainly come back to some heavy winds!

what things are important... to living a Christian life

A Christian life as opposed to an "ordinary" good life, do you mean? Then I'll take as read the "ordinary" precepts and virtues which pretty well all civilisations have in common - I mean the things Lyn has mentioned - welcoming strangers etc. But let me see if I can find a few things that I think are specifically important for me in living a Christian life. Hhmmmm.... :write:

Prayer - this is such an amazing privilege and wonder that I'm gobsmacked at myself for so often neglecting it!

Acceptance of things as a gift from God - the natural world, say - such a gift! (I have such an unhappy fear that we've broken this one - or broken the bit of it given to us to look after, anyway.) Family (which isn't to say this can't be a challenging gift at times! ). Myself - another gift with challenges. :) But also accepting difficulties and hardships as gifts - not to say I sit passively, or think that (for example) an aching tooth or rotten employer should just be endured. The gift can be in finding the cure or the strategy to defeat a wrong.

Hope - we are all damaged human beings, but I believe the long story of redemption is going to end in salvation, not just for the certified good people, or the certified baptised people, but for all of us, as per Romans 8:19 and verses following. Which reminds me that...

Reading the scriptures - is very valuable for me - I use the psalms a lot, but just about every other part of the Bible as well - though I don't much like Ezra, and don't really know Leviticus or Numbers.

There! That's a few to start with. But why did you ask?

I was just curious and thought it might be an interesting topic :)

Which psalms do you like the most?

Following the ten commandments, and I like the 23rd Psalm. Giving to charity and attending the church you believe in.

This is not surprising in today's wired , or wified world.

Hi Rose, yes it is an interesting topic.

I know you weren't asking me about psalms but my favourite is a very short one. I used to think of that when I got myself in a tizz.
Here are verses 1 & 2:

Psalm 131
O Lord, my heart is not lifted up;
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.

It is growing close to God and Christ.
Working on my relationship with the LORD, building on truth in his word and letting the LORD change me and help become more like Christ in thought, word and deed.
There has been a lot of emotional, painful and difficult times in my life. Those times I thank God he is there and that he does as it says in the word. He loves me and takes
care of me.

I want all my family to know the LORD, before like Dives and Lazarus, it is too late when they go off to where they will be after death.

This broken world needs Christ and our heavenly Father, more than ever.

Which psalms do I like? Oh, so many! For starters, Psalm 19. I'll come back in a few days to explain why, but right now I have to meet a few real-life demands.
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works. - Psalm 26
