Prayer of the Hours

O Christ, our God, Who at all times and at every hour in heaven and earth art worshipped and glorified;
Who are longsuffering, merciful, and compassionate;
Who lovest the righteous and hast mercy upon sinners;
Who callest all men to salvation through the promise of good things to come:
O Lord receive our prayer at this hour and direct our lives according to Thy commandments.
Sanctify our souls, purify our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our minds, and deliver us from every tribulation, evil and distress.
Compass us about with Thy holy angels so that, guarded and guided by their array, we may attain to the unity of the Faith, and to complete knowledge of Thine unapproachable glory.

For blessed art Thou, unto the ages of ages,

Amen.

My most merciful and all-merciful God, Lord Jesus Christ,
Through Thy great love Thou didst come down and take flesh to save all.
And again, O Saviour, save me by Thy grace, I pray Thee,
For if Thou shouldst save me for my works, this would not be grace or a gift, but rather a duty.
Indeed, in Thy infinite compassion and unspeakable mercy, Thou O my Christ hast said:
Whoever believes in Me shall live and never see death.
If faith in Thee saves the desperate, save me, for Thou art my God and Creator.
Impute my faith instead of deeds, O my God, for Thou wilt find no deeds which could justify me, but may my faith suffice for all my deeds.
May it answer for and acquit me, and may it make me a partaker of Thy eternal glory.
And may satan not seize me, O Word, and boast that he has torn me from Thy hand and fold.
O Christ, my Saviour, whether I will or not, save me.
Make haste, quick, quick, for I perish.
Thou art my God from my mother's womb.
Grant me, O Lord, to love Thee now as once I loved sin, and also to work for Thee without idleness, as I worked before for deceptive satan.
But supremely shall I work for Thee, my Lord and God, Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

Amen.

Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

O Christ, the true light, which illumineth and sanctifieth every man who cometh into the world!
Let the light of Thy countenance be showed upon us, that in it we may behold the light ineffable;
And guide our footsteps aright, to the keeping of Thy commandments;
Through the intercessions of Thine all-pure Mother, and of all Thy Saints.

Amen.

Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

Postby Theophilus » November 17th, 2008, 4:31 am

Attributed to Ss. Boris and Gleb, sons of St. Vladimir, Prince of Kiev, as they rode to their martyrdom, 1015:

"O Lord Jesus Christ, who in this form didst come down to us on earth,and who of thine own free will didst deign to be nailed upon the cross and endure suffering for our sins: vouchsafe me also to endure suffering.
I am being slain, and I do not know the reason...but this I know: OLord, my Lord, thou knowest."

Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

Postby Theophilus » November 18th, 2008, 4:17 am

Lord Jesus Christ; I confess that thou art the Son of God. Wherefore do thou dwell in me and vouchsafe me to dwell in thee .

Teach me to love thee with all my heart, and with all my soul, and with all my strength, and with all my mind .

Teach me to love thee before all others, that I may be thy disciple .

Teach me to be meek and lowly in heart .

Teach me the truth, that the truth shall set me free .

Teach me to love all others, that thy love may be perfected in me .

Teach me to make my love perfect, that my fear may be cast out .

Teach me the love that thou hast to me, that I may dwell in love, dwell in thee, and thou in me .

Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

Postby Theophilus » November 19th, 2008, 4:42 am

O Ruler of all, Word of the Father, O Jesus Christ, Thou Who are perfect:
For the sake of the plenitude of Thy mercy, never depart from me, but always remain in me, Thy servant.
O Jesus, Good Shepherd of Thy sheep, deliver me not over to the sedition of the serpent, and leave me not to the will of Satan, for the seed of corruption is in me.
But do Thou, O Lord, Who is worshipped God, holy King, Jesus Christ, guard me as I sleep by the Unwaning Light, Thy Holy Spirit, by Whom Thou didst sanctify Thy disciples.
O Lord, grant me, Thine unworthy servant, Thy salvation upon my bed.
Enlighten my mind with the light of understanding of Thy Holy Gospel;
my soul, with the love of Thy Cross;
my heart, with the purity of Thy word;
my body, with Thy passionless Passion.
Keep my thought in Thy humility, and raise me up at the proper time for Thy glorification.
For most glorified art Thou together with Thine unoriginate Father, and the Most Holy Spirit, unto the ages.

Amen.

Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

O Christ our God,
Who wast voluntarily lifted up on the Cross,
Grant Thy mercies to Thy new people named after Thee
Gladden with Thy power Orthodox Christians.
Give them victory over their enemies.
May they have as an ally that invincible trophy,
Thy weapon of peace.

(I've copied all the prayers into a document, Theo. I want to always have them at hand. Thanks for posting them. I've been so encouraged by reading them. )
