Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

When the thief beheld the Author of life hanging upon the Cross, he said:
"If Thou were not God incarnate, Who art here crucified with us,
Then had the Sun not veiled its rays, neither would the earth have shaken with trembling.
But do Thou, Who sufferest for all men, remember me, O Lord,
When Thou comest into Thy kingdom."

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

In the midst between two thieves, was Thy Cross found as the balance-beam of righteousness;
For while one was led down to hell by the burden of his blaspheming, the other was lightened of his sins unto the knowledge of things divine.
O Christ God, glory to Thee.

Now and forever and unto the ages of ages.
Amen

When she who bore Thee beheld upon the Cross Thee,
the Lamb and Shepherd and Saviour of the world, she said in tears:
"The world rejoiceth in that it hath received redemption,
but my heart kindleth with yearning as I look upon Thy crucifixion,
which Thou sufferest for all men,
O my Son and my God."

Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

Postby Theophilus » November 23rd, 2008, 3:29 am

Open, O doors and bolts of my heart,
That Christ the King of Glory may enter!

Enter, O my Light, and enlighten my blackness;
Enter, O my Life, and ressurect my deadness;
Enter, O my Physician, and heal my wounds;
Enter, O Divine Fire, and burn up the thorns of my sins, ignite my inward parts, and illuminate my heart with the flame of Thy love.
Enter, O my King, and destroy in me the kingoms and prinipalities of darkness, sit on the throne of my heart, and alone reign in me,

O Thou, my King and Lord.

Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

Postby Theophilus » November 24th, 2008, 1:52 am

Sweet and beautiful Jesus, You came to the least of Your creatures!
The life, joy and fragrance of the immaculate angels, You came to delight Your unworthy servant.
Welcome, You Who fill all things and transcend every delight!
Blessed and glorified be He Who comes.
Remember me in Your glory, in the beauty of Paradise.
Remember me in Heaven, in the songs of the angels.
Remember me, O blessed by the Cherubim and the Seraphim, full of grandeur and light, divine reflection and perfect ikon of the Father.
Remember me, O endless sea of immortal philanthropy.
My Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me as long as I breathe.
Never depart from my side.
Shield me and show me the way to eternity.

Amen

Prayers to Our Lord Jesus Christ

Prayer of forgiveness and renewal

O Lord of heavenly bounties: deprive me not.
As a man I have sinned: have Thou mercy on me, O Lord, Who did become the only sinless One.
Forgive me my sins, compassionate Lord; forget them even as Thou keepest me in Thy rememberance.
O Lord Jesus Christ, write me down in the Book of Life, even as Thou tearest asunder the handwriting of my sins.
O Lord my God, if I have done nothing good before Thee then grant me a good beginning and sprinkle into my heart the dew of Thy grace.
Enlighten my heart which evil desires have clouded and free me, O Lord, from all ignorance, forgetfulness, despondancy, and stony insensibility.

Forgive me all my deliberate sins, my unconcious sins, my sins in word, deed, and thought.
Forgive them all, O Lord, in Thy steadfast and immeasurable mercy and grant me, Thy unprofitable servant, today as my good beginning, given to the glorification of Thy Holy Name: that of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Only Begotten of the Father,
Who became our Salvation
And Whom with lies our heaven:

Crucify my mind,
Open the tomb of my heart,
Lance the evil from within
And shelter me from evil without,

Let me embrace Thee,
And turn away Thine anger.
Send Thy vicar the Holy Spirit to guide comfort and protect me.
So that I may be saved to Thy right, eternally in Thy sight.

Amen

Axion Esti

It is meet to magnify Thee, the Giver of Life, Thou Who didst extend Thine hands upon the Cross, and shatter the power of the enemy.

It is meet to magnify Thee, the Creator of all; for by Thy sufferings we are freed from sufferings and delivered from corruption.

The earth shuddered and the sun hid itself when Thou, O Christ the Saviour, unwaning Light, didst in the flesh sink down into the grave.

Thou hadst neither form nor comliness, O Word before, in Thy sufferings, but rising up Thou hast beautified and illuminated mortals with Divine radiance.

The sun and moon were darkened, O Saviour, and these servants showed themselves faithful, wrapped round with black robes.

The sun darkened his light and shivered when he saw Thee, O Christ, the Unseen Light, bereft of breath and hidden in the tomb.

O God, the Eternal Word beyond description, Thy pure Mother, beholding Thee in the grave, wept bitterly.

When Thine all-pure Mother beheld Thy death, O Christ, she cried out with bitterness: "Tarry not, O Life, amidst the death"

The fearful Hades trembled when it saw Thee, O Immortal Sun of Glory, and in haste it gave up its captives.

Now all the faithful who were redeemed from death by the death, extol with hymns Thy Crucifixion and Thy Tomb, O Christ.

+ Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

God without beginning, co-eternal Word and Spirit, as a righteous Lord strengthen the scepters of kings against their enemies.

Now and forever and unto the ages of ages.

Amen

My Lord, Thou Who becamest man for me, Thou was reviled, Thou wast spit upon, Thou wast scourged, Thou didst wear a crown of thorns, Thou wast crucified, Thou didst pour out Thy precious blood; whereas I have defiled Thine image by my sins.

I implore Thee and entreat Thee, condemn me not, give me time for repentance and confession, that I may weep for my sins. Help me, O my God, because by myself, without Thy grace, I can do nothing

Come, Sun and Savior, to embrace
Our gloomy world, its weary race,
As groom to bride, as bride to groom:
The wedding chamber, Mary's womb.
At your great Name, O Jesus, now
All knees must bend, all hearts must bow;
All things on earth with one accord,
Like those in heaven, shall call you Lord.
Come in your holy might, we pray,
Redeem us for eternal day;
Defend us while we dwell below,
From all assaults of our dread foe.

St. Gregory the Theologian's Morning Prayer:

In the morning I greet my God and resolve to give no room to sin,
But rather consecrate the day to You
Abiding firm and mastering the passions;
For wickedness would bring dishonour upon my greying hairs and upon the table at which I minister.
I pray You, O my Christ, bring this begining to a happy end.

and St. Gregory the Theologian's Evening Prayer:

I deceived You, Word of God, in very truth when I consecrated this day to You.
Now night comes upon me,
And my own light is not undimmed.
This I prayed over and foresaw, but in part my feet have stumbled and on me darkness fell, that hater of salvation.
Rekindle my light, O Christ, and shine on me again.
It's later than you think!
