The Hymn of Kassiani
(Luke 7.36-50)

The woman who had fallen into many sins, perceiving Your divinity, O Lord,
Received the dignity of a myrrh-bearer,
For with lamentation she brought fragrant myrrh to You before Your burial.
And she cried: Woe is me, for love of sin and stings of lustful passion envelop me as the night, dark and moonless.
As You cause the clouds to drop down the waters of the sea, accept the fountain of my tears.
As by Your indescribable condescension You bowed down the heavens, so incline to the groaning of my heart.
I shall kiss Your most pure feet and wipe them with the hair of my head,
Those same feet whose sound Eve heard at dusk in Paradise when she hid herself in fear.
Who can count the multitude of my sins? Who can measure the depths of Your judgements, O Saviour of my soul?
Do not turn away from me, Your servant, for You have immeasurable mercy.
It's later than you think!

And thus setting aside this earthly sojourn in hope of life eternal,
I shall attain to everlasting rest, in that place where there is unceasing sound of festal joy
and the boundless pleasure of those who behold the ineffable beauty of your countenance.
For you are the true desire and inexpressible delight of those who love you, O Christ our God,
and all creation hymns you unto the ages.

Lord Christ our God, Who hast healed my passions through Thy Passion, and hast cured my wounds through Thy wounds, grant me who have sinned greatly against Thee tears of compunction.
Transform my body with the fragrance of Thy life-giving Body, and sweeten my soul with Thy Holy Blood from the bitterness with which the foe has fed me.
Lift up my downward looking mind to Thee, and take it out of the pit of perdition, for I have no repentance, I have no compunction, I have no consoling tears, which uplift children to their heritage.
My mind has been darkened through earthly passions, I cannot look up to Thee in pain. I cannot warm myself with tears of love for Thee.
But, O Lord Jesus Christ, Treasury of good gifts, give me thorough repentance and a diligent heart to seek Thee; grant me Thy grace, and renew in me the lineaments of Thy image.
I have forsaken Thee - do not forsake me!
Come out to seek me; lead me up to Thy pasturage and number me among the lambs of Thy chosen flock.
Nourish me with them on the grass of Thy Holy Mysteries, by the prayers of Thy Most Pure Mother and all Thy saints.
Amen.
It's later than you think!

O Lord, I am separated from the one who once loved me, and sorrow has estranged me from my friends.

I am weary with crying, and my eyes fail while I wait for my God. Emptiness and loneliness crush me every night, and meaninglessness haunts me by day. From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint, lifting up to You these praises:

Jesus, Unfailing friend for the abandoned!
Jesus, lover of my soul!
Jesus, fill the emptiness of my heart!
Jesus, healer of the past!
jesus, guide for the future!
Jesus, light to those in darkness, glory to You!

With loud cries and tears, O Jesus, You asked that the cup of grief might be removed from You, and sweat from Your holy body fell like drops of blood. Though all Your disciples forsook You and fled, O Christ, You never faltered, but fulfilled the will of the Father until the end.

Marvelling at Your faithfulness, we who are weak exclaim, Alleluia!

Glory to Thee, Lord.

What shall I give Thee, Lord, in return for all Thy kindness?
Glory to Thee for Thy love.
Glory to Thee for Thy mercy.
Glory to Thee for Thy patience.
Glory to Thee for forgiving us all our sins.
Glory to Thee for coming to save our souls.
Glory to Thee for Thine incarnation in the Virgin's womb.
Glory to Thee for Thy bonds.
Glory to Thee for receiving the cut of the lash.
Glory to Thee for accepting mockery.
Glory to Thee for Thy crucifixion.
Glory to Thee for Thy burial.
Glory to Thee for Thy resurrection.
Glory to Thee who were preached to men and women.
Glory to Thee in whom they believed.
Glory to Thee who were taken up into Heaven.
Glory to Thee who sit in great glory at the Father's right hand.
Glory to Thee whose will it is that the sinner should be saved
through Thy great mercy and compassion.

A prayer compiled October 10 2009 inspired from a Greek hymn and dedicated to the 'Heavenly Father':

O Lord, my Heavenly father and my sweetest Christ,
Your holy name I will never forget,
Your holy name I can never deny, Alleluia.

You who decended to us as a tiny infant,
Place in my heart holy fear,
Place holy fear of You in my heart, Alleluia.

And when sleep calls me at the closure of the day,
My deeds remind me, for that day,
My deeds remind me, for that day, Alleluia.

And when that hour calls, the hour of death,
Take me there to the heavens, close to You,
Take me there to the heavens, to be with you, Alleluia.

There high, high in the heavens in the city of the angels,
So we can chant Your hymn, after the archangels,
So we can chant Your hymn, after the archangels, Alleluia.

My Lady and my Mistress, my Comfortress,
Whenever my heart requests you to be there, you reach out to me my Queen,
Whenever I call on you, my Queen you are there, Alleluia.

Help us, oh purest one, we are praying Mother!
Protect us Mistress, protect us day and night,
Protect us Mistress, protect us day and night, Alleluia.

Spotless One, Maria, thank you Queen of All,
You are the bearer of humanities salvation,
You are the bearer of humanities salvation, Alleluia.

We plead with you, give us in that hour,
The glory of God so we can rest and receive our gifts of virtue,
The glory of God so we can rest and receive our gifts of virtue, Alleluia.

"In vain have I struggled. Christ, I am done, they do not see me. They mistake my love for hatred and my work for jealousy. Put your akra tapinosi as an example in my heart and give me the strength I need to accept accusations for my spiritual salvation."

Humi-limit-ation, the process of setting boundaries for oneself. Prayer not with words but a kinetic action of obedience with love; love knows no boundaries and is self-sacrificing - that is the boundary: love for God, the cross you carry in humiliation - for humility - is to sacrifice your own will and live for others.

Prayer Toward the Unknown

O Lord, You who steadied the hand of Peter as he began to sink on the stormy sea, if you are with me, no one is against me. Grant to me the shield of faith and the mighty armor of the Holy Spirit to protect me and guide me to do Your Will. The future I put into Your hands, O Lord, and I follow You to a life in Christ. Amen.
