Hawaii - the big island

Father Damien, a saint who looked after lepers on Molokai island in the 19th century

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Lush vegetation.

Lava tubes (tunnels in the hard lava) after a volcanic eruption.

Below An old Kona coffee farm, the current Japanese American owner is offering his coffee and giving us a lecture. The building is I believe a pre-war house.

Let nothing disturb you.
Let nothing make you afraid.
All things are passing.
God alone never changes.
Patience gains all things.
If you have God you will want for nothing.
God alone suffices.
